HOW IT WORKS

This is a 4-in-1 system. The IoT.water system enables remote meter reading via the IoT network SIGFOX or LoRaWAN (yellow arrow). Based on pilot testing we have validated the possibility of transmitting up to 90% of all data via these networks. If data cannot be transmitted via these IoT networks for whatever reason, wireless data upload by drive past or walk past (blue and orange arrows) is possible. The mobile IoT.water application also enables straightforward on-site readings of those water meters that are not fitted with the data transfer option. In this case the on-site meter reading is transferred to the data centre within seconds using a mobile application and data transfer via GSM networks (red arrow). The IoT.water solution comes with integrated server, database and software solutions. The system is fully compatible with customer information systems (USYS).

TRANSMITTER

The transmitter is a radio module enabling two-way communication between the IoT network, the receiver and the mobile application. The service life (warranty) of the transmitter is 12 years. The battery lifetime is 7 – 12 years depending on the frequency of data transfer. The batteries can be changed by the manufacturer without any impact on the terms and conditions of the transmitter warranty.

RECEIVER

 

The mobile meter-reading receiver (MOP) is an integral part of the comprehensive IoT.water solution. The MOP serves several purposes. It is used to set up and install the transmitter. It is also used for drive-past or walk-past readings if the data cannot be transmitted via the IoT network. Last but not least, the MOP can be used to download data from the internal memory.

MOBILE APPLICATION

Mobilní aplikace - použití

 

The IoT.water mobile application works with Android OS and can be used with any Android-based mobile device. The mobile application enables communication with the Transmitter during set-up and installation, data download from the internal memory and, of course, data upload in on-site reading mode. The mobile application transfers the data collected via the GSM network to the information system for further use. The mobile application also makes it possible to enter data from on-site (manual) meter readings if the water meter is not fitted with a remote reading system, or if the information cannot be collected due to failure of the transmitter. The mobile application works together with a module for meter-reading route management and creation. A comprehensive map interface with information about transmitters that have been successfully read is a particular feature.

INSTALLATION OPTIONS

The transmitter and meter-top module can be installed in several ways. The transmitter and meter-top can be fully integrated with the water meter (1). If the signal is not good enough to enable data transfer directly from the water meter, the transmitter can be mounted as close as possible to the cover of the water meter (2). The transmitter is fitted with a 5m cable for this option as standard. The transmitter also allows for wireless communication between meter-tops supplied by other manufacturers (3) or a smart water meter, which both enable wireless communication without the need for an additional meter top device (4).

All installation and set up of the transmitter is via the mobile application, which communicates through the MoMReR (mobile meter-reading receiver). The installation and setup of the transmitter can be done either by IoT.water staff or by the operator’s staff, once they have been trained.
